Fear of Dark Water

Victory demands sacrifice... and the losses will cut deep

Synopsis

Jimmie Knight’s senior year of high school marks five years since he outgrew the clairvoyance that plagued him as a child. Whenever he caught a vision of someone in danger, he arrived too late to help. Failures piled up until it all came to a terrifying end on his twelfth birthday with the death of a little girl he’d foreseen drowning just moments before.

Now the visions are back. This time the target is his crush, Ember Grace. Members of Jimmie's rock band pressure him into playing at a summer party at the pond where the girl drowned. At the water's edge he makes every attempt to let go of the pain and free himself of regret, but the pond grabs hold of him, drawing him deeper into conflict with an evil presence Jimmie feels lurking in its murky depths.

Within days of Jimmie's return to the pond, Ember's best friend Sydney embarks on an epic social free-fall. It seems the demon in the pond is using his command of her to isolate them. The demon commands Sydney to choose nineteen children to grow the ranks of his dark army, then uses Jimmie and Ember as bait to lure the children into the pond's depths. Nobody will be safe until the demon is destroyed, but Jimmie's visions warn that there can be no victory without sacrifice.

With nineteen children and Sydney at stake, Jimmie and Ember return to the dark water to square off with the demon. If they defeat him, the price will be steep. Will it be Ember’s life or Jimmie's? At what point is victory worth the cost?
